Rapafusyn Pharmaceuticals seeks a highly motivated and talented assay development scientist with a strong background in biochemical assay development and LC/MS analysis to join our research and development team in Baltimore, Maryland. Rapafusyn develops novel natural product-like macrocycles, rapafucins, as pharmaceuticals to fulfill unmet medical needs. Rapafusyn holds an exclusive license to the rapafucin technology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
The successful candidate will participate in the design of biochemical and invitro assays to interface with our chemistry team and pharmacological collaborators in the development of Rapafusyn’s macrocycle platform. In particular, this individual will design assays with a focus to optimize potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics and in vivo efficacy. As a member of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with a broad group of scientists. The successful candidate will contribute effectively to patent, report, and scientific publication writing.
PhD in Biochemistry, molecular biology, or chemical biology with a minimum of 2 years of postgraduate experience or industry experience in biotech or pharmaceutical environments valued. Masters with 5 years’ comparable experience accepted.
High level of independence with ability to creatively think and adapt to agile work environments.
Excellent scientific expertise in biology, and familiarity with the current literature, including a strong working knowledge of assays and mechanisms and the ability to interpret assay results.
Broad knowledge of characterization and purification techniques for small molecules including LC/MS.
Problem solving skills and a track record of documented success via publications.
Strong fluency with computers, electronic notebooks, and web applications.
Excellent communication skills and ability to present rationale, key data, issues and accomplishments of scientific efforts to other members of the team and external collaborators.
Strong knowledge of PKPD principles, with a solid understanding of key ADME, biochemical and pharmacological principles and able to effectively integrate and apply these to the optimization of multiple parameters during lead generation and lead optimization efforts.
